... long easy run...???

As I was supposed to one week before a half marathon race, I did a "longish" run yesterday at the "prescribed" heart rate zone according to the results from the lactate balance point test. I am supposed to do those "long runs" at a heart rate between 134 and 140, ideally on 140. I set out to do 2 hours or roughly 20K. I chose mostly flat terrain in order to be able to keep my heart rate constant without major change in pace.
It turned out that running in the very zone had me do 19.8KM in 1:36:00. Well, that is not too shabby. Although I have done most of my running over the last months in that zone, I had never tracked distance (due to lack of GPS based HR monitor!). With my new Garmin Forerunner 305, I am, of course, tracking every step.
I felt great after the run and am not tired or sore at all today, well, because I stayed well below my lactate balance point.
On Saturday, I managed to put in a solid effort in the pool with 10x100m (on 2 minutes), 5x200m (on 4 minutes) and another 5x100m (on 2 minutes).
Maybe I am paying the price today... I feel like I am coming down with a cold. Hopefully, I will be able to run the Fall Classic on Sunday. Rest & sleep is on my workout schedule this week.
